Priorities & Positions

SWAMC's Current Position Statements (updated Feb. 2014) address fisheries, general state funding, public safety, tourism, transportation, public facilities and energy issues. SWAMC's priorities and positions are distributed to state agencies, the Alaska State Legislature and the Alaska Congressional delegation, as well as to other interested parties.

In addition, SWAMC's Energy Task Force developed a SWAMC Regional Energy Policy, adopted by the SWAMC Board of Directors in June of 2008. This document has given direction to our programs and positions on various energy issues affecting the region, and was formulated with much stakeholder input.

SWAMC also partners with various advocacy organizations and interest groups to advocate for various issues or needs, including: the Alaska Municipal League; the Alaska State Chamber of Commerce; and other Alaska Regional Development Organizations.
