Economic Indicators
STEM education carries significant economic benefits. STEM-related fields position students for high-paying jobs in growing industries, many of which, like aerospace and marine science, are becoming increasingly important to Southwest Alaska.
STEM workers earn on average $14,000 more per year over other occupations at every education level (Carnevale, Smith, & Melton, 2011).
Almost all STEM jobs are projected to grow faster than other occupations.
Unemployment in STEM occupations is also much lower than others.
